The War Memorial welcomes Ruta Sepetys — internationally acclaimed, #1 New York Times bestselling author of historical fiction published in over sixty countries and forty languages — as she launches her latest novel, A Fortune of Sand. Set against the crumbling grandeur of 1920s Detroit, it's a haunting story of glamour, grift, and the women who demand to be seen.

During this presentation, author and researcher Lisa A. Lark will discuss her work researching more than 180 men from the Grosse Pointes who gave their lives in military service. She will share details about the research process, tell the stories of some of the Pointes' fallen heroes, and explain how to access military records for genealogical purposes.
