Memorial Day at The War Memorial: DAR to dedicate special marker
A feature of this year’s Memorial Day ceremony will be when The Louisa St. Clair Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) in Grosse Pointe will dedicate a Revolutionary War Patriots marker.
Rise Above Exhibit coming to The War Memorial as part of D-Day commemoration
A unique exhibit will soon enhance the D-Day anniversary experience at The War Memorial.
The War Memorial is proud to host Rise Above - a traveling exhibit and immersive mobile movie theater featuring two original short films detailing the Tuskegee Airmen and Women Airforce Service Pilots and obstacles they overcame in flying — and fighting — for their country. The exhibit, presented by the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Red Tail Squadron, will be open to the public from June 5-8.
War Memorial becomes a food donor with Food Rescue US-Detroit
The partnership between the two nonprofit organizations began in mid-April. It includes The War Memorial being a food donor for Food Rescue Detroit, meaning that leftover food from The War Memorial will be picked up by Food Rescue Detroit volunteers and taken to area social service agencies like food pantries, shelters, and veterans service facilities.
War Memorial to commemorate 80th anniversary of D-Day
A most appropriate sculpture will serve as the backdrop of an upcoming D-Day ceremony in metro Detroit. A 6 p.m. ceremony is planned for June 6, 2024 at The War Memorial to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
War Memorial partners with American Legion Post 372
American Legion Post 372 is now headquartered and will have its regular meetings at The War Memorial in Grosse Pointe Farms. Previously, the Post did not have an official meeting space. The partnership began in early April.
