Second Saturdays at The War Memorial bring families together for a morning of hands-on fun, themed activities, and a live onstage performance—perfect for kids ages 3–10 (and the adults who love them!). Each month offers a new adventure to spark curiosity, inspire creativity, and make memories on our beautiful lakeside campus.

Interactive call and response stage show – featuring the Jungle Jive!
Michigan Mammals
A great many mammals call Michigan home. Using skins, skulls, mounted animals and a variety of hands-on activities, students will learn how to identify Michigan’s mammals. Students will also explore mammal diversity and adaptations, especially as they relate to diet and survival. Presentation by Huron Clinton Metroparks
Pipe Cleaner Snake Craft
Sssssso Much Fun! Kids can create a fun snake craft with pipe cleaner, felt beads, and of course googly eyes!
Creative Nature
Join Creative Nature for a fun modeling clay craft! This month’s project will be a lion sculpture – roar!
Where the Wild Things Are
On of our Storytime reads this month will be Where the Wild Things Are! Kids can create their own Monster Paper Bag Puppet to follow along!
About our Second Saturdays Series
Our popular Second Saturdays events return for the 2025-2026 season! The second Saturday of each month, join us for crafts, activities, games, an onstage performance and more family-friendly fun! These themed monthly events are designed to provide a preview of some of the classes, camps and other experiences we host at the War Memorial throughout the year. Meet some of our instructors and learn more about programs offered at the War Memorial before you commit to a whole session. Plus there’s free coffee for parents, and an indoor place for the kids to run around and burn some energy during those long Michigan Winter weekends. Each session just $10, or get all six sessions for $50. See you there!
