Picnic & Play by the Lake

This summer, pack your picnic basket and join us on the beautiful back lawn of the War Memorial for Picnic & Play by the Lake — a free, family-friendly gathering designed to turn an ordinary morning into a memory-making adventure.

Beginning June 25 and continuing July 23 and August 27, families from Grosse Pointe and beyond are invited to enjoy two carefree hours by the lake from 10:30am–12:30pm. Bring your own picnic blanket, your favorite snacks, and your favorite people. We’ll bring the fun.

Expect plenty of yard games and hands-on activities for kids and families to enjoy together — think classic lawn favorites, space to run, and that unbeatable summer feeling that only happens when sunshine meets shoreline. Whether you stay for a quick snack break or settle in for the full two hours, this is your invitation to step outside, connect, and play.

We’re especially excited to partner with The Family Center to help make this new community program welcoming, engaging, and full of energy.

There may not be a better place to spend a summer morning than the War Memorial’s back lawn — lake views, open space, and laughter drifting through the air.
