Historic Lawn and Gardens

Perfectly situated overlooking Lake St. Clair, our historic lawn and gardens are the centerpiece of The Moorings. The lawn is an ideal setting for ceremonies or an alfresco cocktail hour. Our lawn is equipped with power and we provide classic white folding chairs for up to 400 guests.

At The War Memorial, exceptional food is at the heart of every celebration. Executive Chef Joe Paxton brings classical French training and more than twenty years of experience at acclaimed restaurants across the country — a culinary journey shaped by time in France, Austria, New Orleans, and the Carolinas.

Chef Paxton and his team source fresh, seasonal ingredients daily from Eastern Market and select Midwest farms, crafting beautifully presented menus that reflect the season and the people at your table. From cocktail hour through the final course, every detail is designed to leave a lasting impression.
