Why This Matters
While military records tell us names and dates, they cannot capture the lives behind them—the dreams, families, and personal sacrifices. We want to tell the full story of these local heroes so they are remembered as individuals, not just names carved in stone.
This project is led by award-winning author Lisa Lark, known for her work honoring Gold Star families. Together, we are creating a lasting tribute that reflects the depth and dignity these stories deserve.

“It is important to remember those from the Grosse Pointes who gave their lives in service to our country as individuals, rather than simply names carved into cenotaphs. This is a chance for all of us to learn more about who they were.”
