Fridays, Oct. 3, 10, 17 and 24
Brought to you by the Grosse Pointe Artist Association:
This class is open to all experience levels from beginner to advanced.
Liz promises to carefully explain and demonstrate the entire process, plus she will be there to guide you, as requested, every step of the way!
Together you will bring your favorite family photos to life. The photos you choose to work from can be in black and white and/or color, from any era. If you are unsure which photo to choose, bring a few options and Liz will discuss the compositional elements with you, helping you determine the best one to use as a reference.
Lessons are demonstrated with oil paint but acrylic is welcome.
The class will open with a discussion of composition and goals for your painting. Next steps will include blocking the composition using monochromatic values followed by color mixing.
You will have time to develop your painting at your own pace.
Required Materials:
Oil or Acrylic paints
Titanium White, Cadmium Yellow, Ultramarine Blue, Cadmium Red, Mars or Ivory Black
Brushes
Synthetic blend Round #1, Bright #4, and a larger Filbert for bigger areas
Substrate
You may paint on the surface you prefer, canvas or panel. The most important thing to keep in mind is whether your reference image is square or rectangular. I recommend 11inx14in - 16inx20in for rectangular images and 14inx14in to 20inx20in for square images.
