DIA Inside - Out Community Lecture

Have you noticed the new artwork outside the Alger Center? Café Scene in Paris by Henri Gervex is one of twelve pieces on display throughout the Grosse Pointes, courtesy of the DIA Inside-Out Program.

Join us on July 15th for a free behind the scenes look at the Inside-Out Program from DIA Community Engagement Manager Colleen McNamara.  Doors will open at 6pm and the program will begin at 6:30pm. Colleen will provide a short overview of the museum and the benefits open to those in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties. She’ll also review the selection process for pieces and locations in the program, and finish with an overview of all the pieces you can visit in and around the Grosse Pointes this summer.

Since 2010, the Detroit Institute of Arts has been bringing reproductions of artworks from its world-class collection to public spaces throughout Oakland, Wayne, and Macomb counties with the popular Inside|Out program. By turning the museum “inside out”, the program creates opportunities for residents and visitors to experience art where they live, work, and play.

This year, the Grosse Pointe Chamber of Commerce partnered with the DIA to bring 14 artworks to parks, businesses, community centers, and libraries throughout the Grosse Pointe neighborhoods. From the famous Van Gogh Self-Portrait to the vibrant and abstract Animals in a Landscape by Franz Marc, the images selected represent the breadth of the museum’s collection as well as complementing the unique qualities of each host location.
