Join us as we kick off a brand-new season of Second Saturdays—a playful and affordable monthly tradition designed for families with young children.
September 13: At The Circus
Life can feel like a circus—especially at the start of the school year! Embrace the chaos and celebrate the joy as we launch our 2025–2026 season with a morning full of fun. From 9am to 11am, children will explore themed activity stations before enjoying a lively interactive performance at 10am.
Tickets: Just $10 per child (adults are free!)

Each Second Saturday is filled with hands-on activities, interactive performances, and lots of memory-making—all set against the backdrop of our beautiful lakeside campus. Whether you're a first-timer or a seasoned guest, there's something new to discover every month.
AT THE CIRCUS ACTIVITIES
Stage Show - Nat Spinz
At 10am local circus performer Nat Spinz will take the stage for a fun hula hoop demonstration! After the showcase, Nat will invite kids to pick up a hula hoop and join in the fun with her.
Clown Shoe Craft
Kids can make their own clown shoes and get into the spirit!
Under The Big Top Craft
What's hiding under the big top?! Kids will choose from fun foam stickers to create their own hidden under the big top craft!
Modeling Clay Sculpture
Join Creative Nature Art and Design for a fun modeling clay sculpting activity!
Storytime
We'll host Storytime during this week's Second Saturdays in the recently renovated Alger House Library. Take a break from the craft stations and join us in the library at 9:15 or 9:45am for Storytime.
Coloring Pages
Not into the craft stations? No problem! For our youngest members or those that need a minute away from the action, circus themed coloring pages will be available.
About our Second Saturdays Series
Our popular Second Saturdays events return for the 2025-2026 season! The second Saturday of each month, join us for crafts, activities, games, an onstage performance and more family-friendly fun! These themed monthly events are designed to provide a preview of some of the classes, camps and other experiences we host at the War Memorial throughout the year. Meet some of our instructors and learn more about programs offered at the War Memorial before you commit to a whole session. Plus there’s free coffee for parents, and an indoor place for the kids to run around and burn some energy during those long Michigan Winter weekends. Each session just $10, or get all six sessions for $50. See you there!
