A Low Country Shrimp Boil
One big table. Everyone’s invited.
Join us for an evening of Southern-inspired flavors, craft brews, and lakeside charm at this summertime Thursday Night Social at The War Memorial!
Executive Chef Joe Paxton brings his culinary training and deep appreciation for coastal Southern cuisine to the communal table with a traditional Low Country Shrimp Boil—a festive, hands-on meal rooted in the coastal regions of South Carolina and Georgia, known as the Low Country. This vibrant spread of shrimp, sausage, corn, and potatoes is simmered together with bold seasoning and served family-style in the spirit of community and connection.
Enjoy a curated tasting of craft beers from Someday Brewing of Grosse Pointe Woods, known for their small-batch, hand-crafted meads and beers.
Tickets are available with or without beer samples and include live music from Mark Lavengood, a celebrated dobro (resonator guitar) artist performing a lively mix of bluegrass, country, and folk. All of it set against the backdrop of breathtaking views of Lake St. Clair.
It’s the perfect way to ease into the season—great food, good company, and the unmistakable energy of a summer night on the lake.
What’s a Shrimp Boil, you say?
A shrimp boil done right isn’t just dinner—it’s a shared experience, where the table becomes the centerpiece and the food is meant to be enjoyed elbow-to-elbow.
Rooted in the coastal traditions of the South, a Low Country Shrimp Boil is a celebration of community: shrimp, sausage, corn, and potatoes are boiled together, seasoned boldly, and served in generous portions—family-style, no formality required.
It's casual. It's social. It's meant to bring people together over great food, good conversation, and a few unexpected laughs. Whether you're catching up with old friends or meeting new ones across the table, a shrimp boil is all about togetherness, abundance, and fun.
