History Stroll through the Pointes

This free morning event will feature historically significant community gathering places throughout the Grosse Pointes, including American House, The War Memorial, and the Ford House. 

Each location will provide a brief tour and light refreshments.  A more detailed description of each offering is below. 

Please note, transportation between locations is not provided. 

Event Schedule 

• 9:30am – 10:15am: 1st Tour, American House, 161 Kercheval, Grosse Pointe Farms, MI 48236

• 10:15am-10:25am: Travel to The War Memorial

• 10:30am – 11:15am: 2nd Tour, The War Memorial, 32 Lake Shore Drive, Grosse Pointe Farms, MI 48236

• 11:15am – 11:30am: Travel to the Ford House

• 11:30am – 12:30pm: 3rd Tour, Ford House, 1100 Lake Shore Rd, Grosse Pointe Shores, MI 48236

• 12:30pm: Tour Concludes

 Tour Location Details

Tour Stop #1: American House 
Start your history stroll with Say Grace Coffee and Espresso bar in the circular drive at American House, located at 161 Kercheval, Grosse Pointe Farms, MI 48236.

Tour Stop #2: The War Memorial
Continue your journey with a stop at the historic Alger House, featuring a brief tour of the Reception Room and the newly refurbished Library.  Light refreshments will be served. 

Tour Stop #3: Ford House
At the final stop on the tour, join Rebecca Torsell, Director of Historic Preservation at the Ford House for a brief tour of the Entertainment Wing of the Main House, followed by the outdoor pool area.
