About Dr. Doris Brown
Dr. Doris Jean Williams Brown, originally from Memphis, Tennessee, began her lifelong path of service as a high school student—volunteering at the Veterans Hospital and leading student organizations while also serving as a youth ambassador for Sears Roebuck. After relocating to Michigan and marrying, Dr. Brown built a remarkable 45-year career as a licensed social worker, dedicating herself to public service and community outreach across multiple states.
Her leadership extended beyond direct service. Dr. Brown was appointed to the Michigan Wage Deviation Board by Governor John Engler, where she represented the voices of everyday citizens in statewide policy discussions. Throughout her journey, she has remained deeply committed to volunteerism, contributing to organizations such as the Boys and Girls Advisory Board, Focus: HOPE, Easter Seals, and various veteran-focused programs. She also ran for mayor in Mobile, Alabama, and has mentored entrepreneurs, youth, and aspiring leaders through programs like SCORE and Special Olympics.
Dr. Brown is the founder of Brown’s Restaurant Servers Academy and currently leads SEA (Sports, Education, Art), a nonprofit that supports personal and professional development. She is also a published author and media contributor whose voice has reached national and international platforms. Her work has earned numerous honors, including Spirit of Detroit Awards and Lifetime Achievement recognition. Through it all, Dr. Brown remains guided by grace, gratitude, and an unwavering belief in the power of service.
