Job Title: Controller
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Status: Full Time, Salary-Exempt
Job Summary
The Controller will manage the accounting and economic aspects of The War Memorial non-profit by enforcing a financial strategy aimed towards profitable long-term growth. Will oversee the finance department, conducting financial assessments, generating reports, establishing company budgets and conduct risk assessments on business initiatives.
Job Duties
Oversee, review, and adhere to the budgets for each business department.
Oversee accounts payables and receivables, while closely monitoring cash flow.
Oversee company insurances, partnering with f-JR on any insurances that may apply.
Assist company-wide budgetary planning on yearly basis.
Prepare 990 tax form for tax exemption purposes.
Research and develop plans to utilize government assistance programs for businesses that may be applicable (i.e. PPP loan)
Work on endowment fund with Development/Fundraising team
Work directly with senior staff on departmental budgeting.
Ensure that all of the company's financial practices are in line with statutory regulations and legislation
Analyze the financial climate and market trends to assist senior executives in creating strategic plans for the future.
Interpret complex financial information and provide updates and information as needed.
Monitor cash flow, accounts, and other financial transactions.
Supervise the Accounting staff in the facilitation of day-to-day operations, including tracking financial data, invoicing, payroll, etc.
Meet and report financials as needed to the COO or CEO.
Prepare and report financials on an as needed basis to the executive Board of Directors.
Seek out methods and practices to minimize financial risk.
Work dynamically with the finance team and the auditing team to create and deliver timely audit.
Create and maintain relationships with service providers and contractors, including banking institutions and accountants.
Update and implement financial policies and procedures.
Establish and implement a training program for new finance employees.
Participate in identification and implementation of process improvement and cost savings measures, while ensuring high quality services.

Skills and Qualifications
Advanced degree in accounting, business, or finance. CPA preferred.
10+ years of experience in finance. Management experience preferred.
Excellent mathematical skills; leadership skills; management experience; integrity; honesty; understanding of data privacy standards.
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal. Thorough understanding of business principles and practices.

Must have a valid Driver's License.
Able to pass a criminal background check.
