What does it cost to rent your venue for a wedding?

Rental rates vary depending on the day and space. There is also a minimum food and beverage spend required on the weekends.

  • Ballroom — $2,100 rental fee with a $15,000 food and beverage minimum
  • Alger House (Library, Reception Room and Dining Room) — $1,100 rental fee with a $5,000 food and beverage minimum

What are your prices for food and beverage?

There are a variety of packages from an informal reception to a formal plated meal, buffet or brunch.

  • Prices for food range from $35 to $47 per person.
  • Bar Packages range from $22 to $36 per person.
  • Prices are subject to 6% Michigan Sales Tax and 21% Service Charge.

Does all food and beverage have to be provided by your in-house caterer?

The War Memorial takes great pride in providing all of its guests with the freshest and most authentic food and beverage experience possible. All food and beverage must be purchased through The War Memorial. The removal of food and/or beverage from The War Memorial is prohibited.  

What is the time frame for daytime/evening events?

A daytime wedding reception begins at 11 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. A daytime ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m.

An evening ceremony begins at 6 p.m. An evening wedding reception begins at 6:30 p.m. and ends at 12 midnight.

What is included with the rental of your venue?

An event coordinator to assist you with your planning needs. We will provide standard tables and chairs, white floor length linens and dinner napkins along with our house place setting to include china, silverware, salt and pepper, bread and butter plate with knife, water and wine glasses.

What size are your tables and how many people can be seated at them?

The rental of the space includes the set up and tear down of tables and chairs for your event.  We have the following tables available

  • 60” rounds – Typically seats eight guests, with a max of nine
  • 72” rounds – Typically seats ten guests with a max of eleven – Minimal Inventory
  • 6’ rectangle tables – Seats six guests max
  • 8’ rectangle tables – Seats eight guests max

Is the food and beverage minimum inclusive of tax and service charge?

A minimum food and beverage spend will apply and varies depending on the date and desired space.  The food and beverage minimum is the minimum amount that must be spent before service charge and tax is applied.  Any shortcoming regarding the food and beverage minimum amount will be charged as a rental fee.  

Are linens included with room rental?

Yes, white floor length linens and dinner napkins are included.

Is there a cake cutting fee?

There is a $2 fee for dessert plate-up. This applies to cakes, cupcakes and assorted desserts

Is there a charge for offering more than one entrée selection?

There is an additional entrée fee of $4 per person with a three-selection maximum.

What is your cancelation policy?

In the event you need to cancel your wedding less than three months prior to the event, no money will be refunded. All cancellations, no matter what the time frame may be, will forfeit their deposit.
