Haixin Wu, Detroit Symphony Orchestra
A week-long intensive masterclass for string players and pianists, this camp provides one-on-one instruction, chamber music experiences with musical peers, and an exhilarating concluding performance. Musicians will work with Detroit Symphony Orchestra Assistant Concertmaster Hai Xin Wu and Michigan State University Professor of Collaborative Piano, Zhihua Tang, along with other guest artists, working on technique, expression, and ensemble skills.
Each participant in this camp will gain valuable experience in chamber music repertoire — what a great tune-up before heading off to Interlochen, Blue Lake, the Fall school semester, or college auditions!
Open to musicians in grades 6 through 12 of varying musical abilities, who play violin, viola, cello, bass, or piano; all participants must be able to read music and feel comfortable performing with others
Students will be placed in chamber music ensembles according to their level of musical experience; all students will perform in the concluding concert
String players must provide their own instruments; pianists will have access to War Memorial instruments
Please bring a bag lunch and water bottle to camp each day.
A special performance will be held on Saturday, June 22 at 10am at The War Memorial, free for parents and families!
