Monologues and Martinis

Good company, good wine, good welcome can make good people.
— William Shakespeare; Henry VIII, Act 1 Scene 4

The War Memorial welcomes partner and friend Shakespeare in Detroit to our lakefront ballroom for an afternoon of martinis and monologues, as the theater company performs selections from some of the plays under consideration for the 2020/21 season.

As you enjoy your martini (prepared just “as you like it”), Shakespeare in Detroit’s incomparable performers will enrapture your imagination — and you’ll even have the opportunity to cast a vote for which plays will be presented next year.

Your ticket includes a complimentary martini (or any other beverage from our full bar), and entry into a raffle to win exciting prizes.

Shakespeare in Detroit is the city's premiere classical company, having pioneered the first-ever park performance of the Bard in a city park. The pioneering organization has been featured on the BBC, NPR, and several additional local and national platforms.
